Blurb: Visionary. Alchemist. Savior. Saint.

The Prophet Zarathustra has been called many things. Now he spends his time drawing pictures of weird-looking goats. That's what happens when you've been stuck in a prison cell for two hundred years. But the man who might be mad, and is definitely supposed to be dead, has suddenly become very valuable again…
It's only been a few weeks since Nazafareen escaped the King's dungeons with her daēva, Darius. She hoped never to set foot in the empire again, but the search for the Prophet has led them to the ancient city of Karnopolis. They have to find him before Alexander of Macydon burns Persepolae, and Darius's mother with it. But they're not the only ones looking.

The necromancer Balthazar has his own plans for the Prophet, and so does the sinister spymaster of the Numerators. As Nazafareen is drawn in to a dangerous game of cat and mouse, her newfound powers take a decidedly dark turn. Only the Prophet understands the secret of her gift, but the price of that knowledge may turn out to be more than Nazafareen is willing to pay…

Comment: Blood of the Prophet is the sequence of ‘The Midnight Sea’. There´s a lot happening in this book. The puzzling plot keeps you busy until the last page—the focus of the book is the Prophet. There are many people looking for him but they have different purposes.

Like book 1, you can´t predict what will happen in the next chapter. The plot becomes more complex and some side and new characters gain more importance. Flashbacks reveal secrets of the mysterious characters and help you understand this intriguing plot.

Nazafareen has to deal with her turbulent feelings when she discovers that she has uncommon powers that may destroy Darius and herself. She discovers more things about the cuffs that keep the bond between the water dogs and daevas. She discovers more lies.

“Secrets are like bugs living under a rock,” he agreed. “You never know they´re there until someone kicks it over.”

The descriptiveness of the author is fantastic and keeps you engaged into the story. The book has the perfect amount of fiction, romance, and mystery. Kat Ross reveals the secrets in a perfect time and cares to make it flow smoothly, without breaking the focus on the main point of the story.

The characters are authentic. It is easy to classify them as good or evil. They have clear roles in the plot. They are willing to do anything to accomplish their purposes, yet there´s many secrets to be revealed in book 3 ‘Queen of Chaos’.

It´s an exciting story where a girl and a boy—a human and a daeva—choose to fight for the ones they love and the ones who deserve to live and be free.
