Movie Review: The Huntsman: Winter´s war

Blurb: Long before the evil Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron) was thought vanquished by Snow White’s blade, she watched silently as her sister, Freya (Emily Blunt), suffered a heartbreaking betrayal and fled their kingdom. With Freya’s ability to freeze any enemy, the young ice queen has spent decades in a remote wintry palace raising a legion of deadly huntsmen—including Eric (Chris Hemsworth) and warrior Sara (Jessica Chastain)—only to find that her prized two defied her one demand: Forever harden your hearts to love.

When Freya learns of her sister’s demise, she summons her remaining soldiers to bring the Magic Mirror home to the only sorceress left who can harness its power. But once she discovers Ravenna can be resurrected from its golden depths, the wicked sisters threaten this enchanted land with twice the darkest force it’s ever seen. Now, their amassing army shall prove undefeatable…unless the banished huntsmen who broke their queen’s cardinal rule can fight their way back to one another.

Comment: It´s a very interesting plot; it is a kind of prequel and a kind of sequel of 2012 movie ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’. Snow White just appears in the movie for a few minutes, or seconds, I´m not sure, with her back turned to the cameras. The story isn´t about Snow White and I like it because I´ve already watched many movies about her; this one is very different; it is about evil and good. It isn´t about the evil queen Ravenna either.

Well, it sounds a little… commonplace? Maybe. However, there is an eternal fight between evil and good and it will always sell uncountable stories. Love will always exist, as well evil; it´s impossible to extinguish any of them, what suggests that might be another movie? Am I right? I hope so because Chris Hemsworth as huntsman is phenomenal. Do you agree with me?

They link ‘The Huntsman: Winter´s war’ to ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ very well; everything makes sense in the timeline and many scenes explains some events of the first movie.

Love is in the air. Well, this short word is the cause of so many good and bad actions. It is interesting to see how people react differently when they are in love, frustrated, and angry. They are easily manipulated when they feel betrayed and abandoned.

Again, the visual effects are wonderful and offer you great scenarios and creatures, they seem to exist, to be real; some set pieces are breathtaking. I liked the forest; it´s just perfect.

Humor predominates during the movie, even in the tensest scenes. Chris Hemsworth is always smiling as if nothing can affect him. If you expect to see long and hard fights, you will be disappointed. The few scenes of action are dull; it´s drawback is the lack of action.

I was expecting more action and emotion, but I liked the movie; it did not disappoint me.
